A useful regional attribute
Some ZIP Code datasets include a timezone field to describe the general time zone associated with a record. This can help with broad scheduling, reporting or location categorization.
ZIP Codes are not time-zone boundaries
Postal delivery areas are not designed to follow time-zone borders. A ZIP Code may be associated with a broad or representative timezone value, and datasets can differ in how they assign it.
Daylight saving time
Many U.S. locations observe daylight saving time, while some do not. A timezone label alone may not describe the current UTC offset throughout the year.
For precise scheduling
Use a maintained timezone database and the exact location when scheduling events or processing timestamps. Do not rely only on a ZIP Code field for time-critical operations.
